The data file you converted to the new Quicken 98 probably had some
minor data damage that was not evident in the prior program. The
conversion process leaves behind data that is corrupted to the point of
being unrecognisable by Quicken 98. While some data may be lost in the
conversion process, the new Quicken 98 data file will now be secure and
uncorrupted.
If the data losses were minor, it may be easiest to manually recreate the
information in the new Quicken 98 data file. Examples of minor data loss
could be missing categories, missing splits, and reports or transactions that
are no longer memorised.
Where data losses are too great to manually recreate in the new Quicken
98 data file, go back to the prior version and go through the ordinary
procedures for dealing with damaged data files. Once the old file has
regained its integrity, convert it to the Quicken 98 format.
