Quicken 98Back

Date format is shown in US style.

If the date format in Quicken is showing in the US format (i.e. MM/DD/YY) instead of the British format (i.e. DD/MM/YY) you may need to change your Windows settings. Quicken follows the "regional settings" assigned in Windows, these settings affect the way some programs display and sort dates, times, currency, and numbers.

You can change the regional settings as follows:

  1. Exit Quicken.
  2. In Windows '95 click on the Start button.
  3. From the menu choose Settings, then Control Panel.
  4. In the Control Panel click on the icon for Regional Settings.
  5. In the drop down list of countries, click the region whose date, time, number, and currency format you want to use, e.g. English (British).
  6. Choosing a regional setting automatically changes settings on the Number, Currency, Time, and Date tabs to match those of the region. You can check these settings by clicking on each tab in turn.
  7. Click on Apply to save the new settings. Windows will now restart.
  8. Once Windows has restarted and you return to Quicken your date format should show correctly.
If this does not solve the problem, or the regional settings were already correctly set to English (British) to begin with, try the following to force Windows to change the regional settings:
  1. Change the country in Regional Settings to something completely different, e.g.French (Belgian) and click Apply.
  2. Once Windows has restarted go back to Regional Settings and change the country to English (British) again.
  3. This time after Windows has restarted, return to Quicken and your date format should now show correctly.
If you were also finding dollar signs printing on your invoices or reports, these should now be showing correctly as pound signs
