How do I assign multiple categories to financial transactions?
To assign multiple categories to financial transactions:
- In the check register, type in the date and payee.
- Type in the transaction's total amount in the Payment or Deposit field.
- Click in the Category field and click Split.
- In the Split Transaction window, choose a category for the first item.
The total amount of the transaction is on the first line. Type right over
that amount to indicate the amount of the first categorised item. Then
click Next.
Quicken computes the remainder and displays it in the Amount field of the next line.
- Enter the category and amount for each additional item on separate lines.
- If you change your mind about what you enter, you can also delete, insert, or clear split lines.
- Click Finished to close the Split Transaction window.
