The problem you are experiencing is not due to the CD-ROM itself; it
is due to a driver that runs the CD-ROM called MSCDEX.EXE. You need
to ensure that your CD-ROM drive is using the latest version of this file.
On every computer you will find about three different copies of MSCDEX.EXE:
one in the DOS-folder, one in the folder in which you have copied the CD-ROM-driver
and one in the Windows folder. So it depends on the path the computer is
referencing within the Autoexec.bat as to which version of this file it
is using.
Firstly, check your Autoexec.bat file to see which directory is being
referenced for the CD-ROM control file MSCDEX.EXE. In the example
below the MSCDEX.EXE file being referenced is in the Windows directory.
Example: LH C:\WINDOWS\MSCDEX.EXE /[CD-ROM drive letter] [CD-name]
Now that you know which directory the MSCDEX.EXE file is being referenced
you need to ensure that the version of the MSCDEX.EXE file in that directory
is the latest version. If it is not the latest version you need to contact
your PC vendor for the latest version.
For help on how to view the Autoexec.bat file please consult your Windows
or DOS manual.
Best regards,
