If this message appears when you are trying to backup your data to floppy disk it means that, inadvertently, a file has been opened from a floppy disk. As you are trying to write to the floppy disk and the computer is trying to read from it at the same time this conflict occurs and the error message appears.
The solution to this problem is this:
- Close the error message.
- Select File from the menu bar and click Exit.
- Hold down the control key on the keyboard and start your Quicken program as normal.
- When a grey screen with "File" and "Help" written in the top left hand corner appears release the control key.
- Select File from the menu bar and click Restore.
- Select the Floppy disc drive.
- Choose your data file then click OK.
- Select File from the Menu bar and choose Open.
- Select your data file from the available list and click OK.
- Once the file has opened select File from the menu bar and select Backup.
Now your data is on the hard drive you will now be able to backup to floppy disk without any problems.
