Why does Quicken stop responding when using an existing data file or creating a new one?
Possible Cause: A variety of reasons can cause Quicken to stop responding, including computer resource issues, conflicts with other programs or drivers, or damaged data or program files.
Attempt to use Quicken after completing each step below until this issue is resolved:
- Exit all open programs that you are not using, including Terminate and Stay Resident programs (TSRs).
- Restart your computer.
- Restart your computer in safe (or VGA) mode. (Refer to your operating system's Help for instructions.)
Note: If Quicken operates normally in safe or VGA mode, one or more programs are conflicting with Quicken. Consult a computer technician or technical resource for assistance with eliminating conflicting programs, as we are unable to provide support for this issue.
- Check with your computer's sound and video card manufacturers for the latest available sound and video drivers. Newer drivers may be available even for recently purchased computers.
- Follow the basic troubleshooting steps to correct data file damage.
- Follow the steps to uninstall and reinstall Quicken.
