Quicken 2002, XG, 2004
Downloading Historical Prices
When US Dollar investments are updated, Quicken will access the US Quicken server to download pertinent information relating to the investment(s). The US update server stores a large amount of detailed, US Dollar information from various American exchanges transmits a large amount of recent and historical data for each stock / share updated.
By comparison, the UK releases of Quicken function in a slightly different manner. The catalogue of investments and currencies supported in the UK product is far larger than the US counterpart but the depth of information downloaded (data displayed in the Security Detail View Quote view) is less than that which is available for US investments.
To this effect, a user downloading updates to US and UK investments will see different results when Quicken completes the update process, as certain information is simply unavailable for non-US Dollar investments.
This difference is illustrated below:

** Important **
Should the user wish to compare their US investments against the performance of their existing US investments, historical data can be downloaded and manually imported in to Quicken for this purpose.
This can be achieved by locating a suitable financial resource such as Yahoo Finance http://uk.finance.yahoo.com and an example of such an exercise is presented as follows.
Example
Search for Tesco PLC, ticker symbol TSCO.L on the Yahoo Finance website.
A Quotes & Info screen will be displayed having located the stock Tesco PLC (TSCO.L). This details all recent price movements and also provides a number of options for reporting purposes. From the More On TSCO.L section of this page, click on Historical Prices.

Having clicked this option, a Historical Prices page is displayed containing the most recent 4 months of historical price information. Above this list, the user is able to set a custom date range and refresh this list accordingly. At the foot of this list, a link to Download To Spreadsheet appears.

Clicking on this link will prompt the user to download and save this data as a .csv format spreadsheet file. Data is best saved to a local, fixed location.
Once saved to disk, this historical data can be imported in to Quicken by undertaking the following steps:
- If not viewing the Investing Centre, ensure that either the Investing Centre button on the At-A-Glance Bar is clicked or select Investing / Invesing Centre from the main toolbar at the top of the Quicken programme.
- Once viewing the Investing Centre, click on File / Import / Import Prices to display a prompt to select and import the previously downloaded .csv file containing the historical data for the Tesco stock.

- When the file name or path to the .csv file is entered and the user has clicked OK to confirm this import process, the data will be imported and populate the relevant Security Detail View fields previously only implemented by US-only data.
