Quicken 2002, XG, 2004Back

Why do I keep getting the warning about overwriting backups of Quicken data files?

Background: When the option to warn before overwriting old files is enabled, and you attempt to back up your data file to a directory that contains a data file with the same name, Quicken displays a message: "There is a file with the same file name in the backup directory or disk. Do you want to overwrite it?"

Solution: The warning was designed to help protect against overwriting data for those who keep multiple backups. You can enable or disable the option for Quicken to warn you about overwriting backup copies:

From the Edit menu, choose Preferences, and then select Quicken Program.

In the General tab, a check mark for Warn before overwriting old files will enable the option. Click to remove the check mark and disable the option.
