Why is my backup file larger after converting or updating?
Background: Updating or converting a data file to a new version may cause the file to become somewhat larger due to changes in Quicken that have been made to increase overall performance, and to provide new features. Ordinarily, this will not be noticed; however, if the data file was already very large, a proportionate increase may cause the backup to seem slower or to require more backup disk space.
Solution: Usually an increase in file size will not exceed 30 percent. Although, depending on file contents, it is possible to double in size. The larger file size does not cause problems for Quicken, or its data handling capabilities.
If a larger file size becomes an issue with the computer you are using, creating a copy will reduce the file size and still retain all necessary data.
