Quicken 2002, XG, 2004
Why doesn't my online banking work after upgrading to Quicken XG?
Background: You may run into this problem if you set up your online accounts in Quicken 98, and then upgraded to either Quicken 2001 or 2002 prior to upgrading to Quicken XG.
Solution: To restore your online banking capabilities:
Step 1
Remove Quicken XG from your computer and reinstall your previous version of Quicken (either 2001 or 2002,whichever was most recent).
From the Start menu choose Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
Select Quicken, and click Change/Remove.
Reinstall your previous version of Quicken (either Quicken 2001 or 2002 whichever was most recent) by inserting the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM Drive.
Step 2
Disable all of the online banking accounts that were in your old data file.
Open your old data file.
From the File menu, select Open.
Next, navigate to the folder which represents the version of Quicken that you were upgrading from. For instance, if you were upgrading from Quicken 2002, your old data file will be located in a folder called Q02FILES (For Quicken 2001 – Q01FILES etc.). Quicken XG automatically saves a copy of your older data file when you upgrade.
Note: You will not be able to open the data file that has been upgraded to the Quicken XG format with an older version of Quicken. If you attempt to do so, the file will become unusable in any version of Quicken.
Click OK.
For each online banking account:
Select the Overview tab and in the Online Account Access field disable online access for each account by clicking on Enable.
Next, in the Financial Institution field, select your bank and press the DELETE key on your keyboard to remove the name of the financial institution and then press the ENTER key. This will ensure that no online banking information, which had problems in your previous version, is carried across to Quicken XG.
Step 3
Copy the file to your Quicken directory.
From the File menu, select File Operations, and then Copy.
Next, Browse to your Quicken directory, or wherever you usually store your Quicken data file.
Step 4
Remove the 2001 or 2002 version (whichever you installed) from your computer.
Exit Quicken, and from the Start menu choose Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
Select Quicken and click Change/Remove.
Step 5
Reinstall Quicken XG onto your computer.
Reinstall Quicken XG by inserting the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
Open Quicken XG. Quicken XG should automatically upgrade your old data file. If this doesn't happen, browse to your Quicken directory, or wherever you store your Quicken data file, and select your data file.
Your data file is now prepared to accept your transactions from your financial institution. Download each account into Quicken, when the downloading transactions for the following account dialogue appears choose "Use an existing account" to reestablish the links for your online banking accounts.
