Quicken 2002, XG, 2004
How do I resolve the following error message, which appears when attempting to create a new account?
Background: Invalid page fault (IPF) messages can be caused by a wide variety of issues, including:
Damage to the Quicken data or program file.
Conflicts with other programs running on the computer.
Errors or viruses that affect the contents on the hard disk.
Solution: To troubleshoot and resolve IPF error messages:
Exit Quicken, and then restart the program by holding down the Ctrl key while double-clicking the Quicken icon on your Microsoft Windows desktop.
Create a new Quicken data file for testing purposes, and then try setting up a fictitious account in the new data file.
If the IPF message does not occur, then the original data file is damaged. Follow the basic troubleshooting steps to correct data file damage.
If the IPF message persists, proceed to the next step.
Exit Quicken, and then restart your computer in safe (or VGA) mode. Refer to your operating system's Help for instructions.
(If running Microsoft Windows NT) End all running processes in the Task Manager after restarting your computer.
Restart Quicken as you normally do, create a new Quicken data file, and then try setting up a fictitious account in the new data file.
If the IPF message does not occur, one or more programs are conflicting with Quicken. Consult a computer technician or technical resource for assistance with eliminating conflicting programs.
If the IPF message persists, proceed to the next step.
Exit Quicken, and then reinstall Quicken from the CD-ROM (we recommend reinstalling in safe mode or VGA mode).
Restart Quicken. If the IPF message persists:
Repair errors on your computer's hard disk. Refer to your operating system's Help for instructions.
Scan your computer thoroughly with updated anti-virus software.
