Quicken 2002, XG, 2004Back

How do I delete a Quicken data file?

Background: Before proceeding, consider backing up the Quicken data file you want to delete. The only way to recover a deleted data file it is to restore it from the Quicken Backup folder (usually located at C:\Quickenw\Backup or C:\Program Files\Quickenw\Backup) or from a file copy stored on external media, such as 3.5-inch or Zip® disks.

Note: You cannot restore a deleted Quicken data file from the Recycle Bin in Microsoft Windows.

Solution: To delete a data file:

From the Quicken File menu, choose File Operations, and then choose Delete.

Enter or select the filename of the data file you want to delete, and then click OK.

If you receive the message "The file you are deleting is currently open," confirm that the open file is the correct file to delete before you click OK (otherwise, click Cancel and return to Step 1 to select the correct file).

Type Yes to confirm that you want to delete the file, and then click OK.

(Optional) If you're sure you want to remove all evidence of the file from your hard disk, repeat the previous steps on the file copy in the Backup folder.

Warning: You cannot undo this operation. When you delete a file and its backup, you remove it permanently.
